Art Installation – POSTPONED

22nd January 2025

POSTPONDED – NEW DATE COMING SOON

BRAND NEW public art installation launching outside Priory Meadow Shopping Centre on Saturday 22nd Feb (NEW DATE TBC), produced by Hastings non-profit, Curious Agenda.

Join us at 3pm in Queen’s Square, Priory Meadow to be the first to see Curious Agenda’s collaboration with award-winning local illustrator Benjamin Phillips in the once vacant windows opposite Primark.

Benjamin has designed a colourful character piece, inspired by Hastings’ rich festival calendar, depicting key local events such as Jack in the Green, Fat Tuesday, Pirate Day, and the Seafood & Wine Festival.

The design, printed on vinyl and installed in stages across three large windows, invites you to explore Hastings’ diverse cultural identity through Phillips’ playful and distinctive style. Merchandise featuring Benjamin Phillips’ artwork will be available for purchase later in the year at the Hastings Contemporary and Hastings Museum, offering a chance to take home a piece of the town’s festival spirit.

Everyone is welcome to join us for the unveiling of the first part of the design, spot your favourite festival and enjoy a live performance by the Raven Drummers!

You can also get involved in the next design, set to be installed in April 2025: a limited number of spaces will be available for Phillips to depict you or your loved ones in his signature style. Simply scan the QR code displayed on the installation for details.

A note from Curious Agenda:

With thanks to Priory Meadow and Arts Council England for working with us to make this project possible, Benjamin Phillips for his beautiful work, and KEO Art and Signe Lyderson for their impeccable design skills.
